Imagine this…You’re searching online for a new restaurant to try with your partner on date night. After searching for “new and exotic restaurants near me,” up pops a list of restaurants in your area that may be what you’re looking for.

You check out the reviews of two, maybe three restaurants and see that one of the restaurants has a few 5-star reviews – so, naturally, you decide to take your date there and see what all the fuss is about.

But when you get there and experience the restaurant for yourselves you realize that it’s “ugh”. The music is too loud, the atmosphere is too crowded, and the food, well, a hamburger with imported cheese from a country you’ve never even heard of…is not really that exotic.

As you and your love drive away, you think, “Why did I listen to that review?”

So many times, when searching for that perfect honeymoon destination, couples tend to rely on reviews from people they’ve never met on websites that aren’t exactly the most legitimate. This is something I don’t recommend.

Relying entirely on other people’s experiences to help determine and visualize your own could set you and your future spouse up for a less than average honeymoon.

Remember that as a couple, you have a unique view of the experiences you want to have. You have things that inspire you and places you’ve always dreamed of going together.

Here are some tips (to find your ideal honeymoon destination):

  • Research Facts, Not Reviews: Online reviews tend to be VERY biased. Rather than relying on why this person gave a resort a 5-star review while another gave it 3.5 stars, research what YOU like best about what that resort has to offer and what inspires you about that particular destination.

  • Talk To Family and Friends: Know someone whose been to Mexico? Thinking that might be where you’d like to honeymoon? Ask them about their experience to decide if it could be a good fit for you as a couple.

  • Use A Travel Agent: travel agents are paid to help you travel. They understand the industry jargon, they are unafraid to tell you the hidden costs, and are able to communicate your special requests to the hotel/resort, etc.

When it comes to planning a honeymoon, think about what’s best for you as a couple rather than what others like about that particular destination.

Unlike a wedding that only lasts for 4-8 hours, a honeymoon can last for days or weeks, you want to make sure you make the best of your time together.

I look forward to speaking with you about places you'd like to go,
