I get it. It’s not easy planning a wedding. The venue, the number of guests, the hotel accommodations (for out-of-town relatives), the rings. After all that planning you might be too tired to plan your honeymoon. Which, ironically, should be the most fun to plan!
Below is the “honey” in the “honeymoon.” Or, part 1, of what I like to call, “The Ultimate Honeymoon Planning Checklist”. When it comes to planning, there is no need for it to be stressful – this checklist will be your handy guide to planning an unforgettable trip!
-
Be The Early Bird: Just like a wedding, planning the honeymoon should start early-on too. Start planning your trip at least 6-8 months in advance of your travel dates (especially if you are traveling internationally).
-
Set it, But Don’t Forget It: Decide on how much $ you’d like to spend on your honeymoon (that includes the activities/amenities you’d like to take part in when you get to your ultimate destination). Set this money aside and don’t forget how hard you worked to save it.
-
Couples tend to “dip” into their honeymoon savings and use it for unexpected wedding expenses. When you plan ahead and know what you need the money for, it will help you stay out of the proverbial “cookie jar.”
-
-
Create a Honeymoon Registry: Having a “honeymoon registry” like the one we offer here, can free up some money and help you save for unexpected expenses during the planning process.
-
Accommodations: What kind of resort/hotel will you be staying? Is it a spa hotel? A boutique hotel? A mountain resort? A lodge? Is the hotel/resort all-inclusive?
-
All-inclusive resorts are a great option if you plan to spend your time wining/dining in the same places. However, when you opt-in for a hotel that isn’t “all-inclusive,” you can try different places to spend your time other than in the resort/hotel itself.
-
Keep in mind what “all-inclusive” means when it comes to choosing your hotel/resort. For places that have a vast number of activities (like massages, restaurants, markets,) this might be a great option. Nothing says luxury like being able to walk from the honeymoon suite to a massage table or the beach!

Looking forward to discussing your honey ideas,
