It’s okay not to be ready. Sometimes you just need time. When it comes to your honeymoon, it’s SO okay not to pack your bags and get on the plane right after the wedding.
Here’s part 2 of “The Ultimate Honeymoon Checklist”
5) When and How Long? Newlyweds only get one "honeymoon”. It’s perfectly okay to take your time. Decide when and how long you’d like your honeymoon to be. If you want to wait until after “peak-season” to getaway or you want to wait until your busy season at work is over, that’s also something to plan for! Maybe you would like to save a bit more money for your ultimate dream honeymoon? Plan ahead and save. The destination is always waiting for you…
6) Saying Farewell. One of the main things I recommend to couples is to avoid the “post-wedding rush.” Going straight from the reception to the airport isn’t always ideal. Take a day or even a few to relax and spend some time with out-of-town relatives, thanking them for their support. When you depart for your honeymoon, refreshed and relaxed, the thrill of getting away will feel that much better!
7) Plan A “Mini-Moon”. If you aren’t ready to go off on your honeymoon right away, plan a post-wedding “mini-moon”. A small trip that takes away the pressure of a long trip and helps you save and plan for a bigger and better honeymoon.
Many resorts offer free honeymoon packages within 30 days of a wedding. One very popular package at a resort provides the couple with breakfast in bed, a romantic in-room dinner and a special spot on the beach one day during their trip.
8) Special Reservations/Excursions. Planning your activities before you get to your destination can help you avoid disappointment or worry. For example, a Chef’s Table experience offers a unique opportunity for guests to eat a custom gourmet menu in a small group setting. A visit with the chef will be one of the many highlights of the meal. This is a great option for honeymooners looking for an extra special experience.
9) All-in-One Package. Consider booking the honeymoon package – a package that offers exclusive experiences to newlywed couples. The benefits? It’s all booked for you and planning separate aspects of your trip takes less time.
10) Talk It Out. Plan together and plan ahead for that special trip! If you’re looking for a “professional” to help plan things out for you or just need some help, give me a call…I will make sure your honeymoon is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
